Mulch Ado About Landscaping & Mother's Day

Though last weekend was the first of my 3 week break from Law School, this was the first weekend we could actually take advantage of. Our efforts last week were thwarted by Elaina's ear infection which became my sinus infection and Victoria's sore throat & cough. Feeling back to 85% and fueled by some beautiful weather, we started our annual landscaping efforts.

Yesterday, we pulled up and discarded most of the old mulch. We purchased new mulch, two Cleyera Japonica plants (shrubs with waxy green leaves), and a hydrangia.

Elaina was a real sport yesterday at Lowe's, even falling asleep for a stretch while we made multiple trips back and forth between the store, the lawn/garden section, and the car.

Today, Elaina supervised the planting and mulching from the comforts of her stroller.

It was a lot of hard work.

But we made time for fun and refreshment. Victoria took a break and turned Elaina's stroller into a double stroller--Elaina thought it was hilarious.

We look forward to finishing the front landscaping in the next week or so.

Before we could do any of that landscaping, of course, we had to kick off the day by celebrating Mother's Day, Victoria's first. This morning, Victoria received a few flowers and a card from Elaina for being such a loving mother. Then, after church, we snapped some photos of mom and baby (who turned 6 months old today!)
